High Blood Pressure And Left Arm Begins To Hurt When It Gets High

I have high blood pressure and my left arm begins to hurt when my pressure gets high. For example it was 148/98 the other day. Is this a reason to be alarmed or is this normal? I have been to my doctor and two weeks ago I went to doctor twice. I am on medication and have begun a diet.(low sodium) I had been feeling better until day after valentines. I had a salty meal with my friend. The next day blood pressure was high and left arm was hurting. Today I am back to feeling normal.

Cardiac Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
High blood pressure puts the heart into stress. So sometimes a pain in the left arm during periods of hypertension can be a sign of heart ischemia due to coronary artery stenosis. How old are you? Do you have any risk factor for coronary disease like family history, smoking, diabetes, etc. I would suggest a visit to the cardiologist.
