High Blood Sugar Level. On Insulin. Why Won't The Levels Decrease?

I went on insulin 2 days ago. My blood sugar had been high with a A1C at 11. This is why I started taking insulin. However, the blood sugar appears to be rising. The past two mornings the blood sugar was at 260 and 206. Last night before taking the insulin, it was 282 and tonight it was 382. Is this normal. I was told it may take several days to see results?

Hello

Insulin is the treatment of choice for such high levels of blood sugar and HbA1c.

There may be increase insulin resistance which may be hindering the control of blood sugar.

With insulin you can add insulin sensitisers like metformin or increase the dose of insulin to achieve good control.

After a month repeat the HbA1c . If it is maintained below 7 % then it will be a good sign.
