High Diastolic Pressure Levels. Have Asthma And Thyroid Problems. Could That Be The Reason?

I went to the after care hour clinic and they said my Dialostic number was 106 which is high. So they had to lower my blood pressure so they could give me a steriod shot. I have asthma and it flares up because of my allergies. Should I be worry about this? I was put on thyriod meds and metformin, which I don't take like I should. Can that also effect my blood pressure? Thanks!

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
After going through your history, you have Bronchial asthma, and thyroid issues.
your blood pressure is 106 diastolic we should know systolic pressure also.
You should be be given anti hypertensive medicines because if steroids are to be given oral or inject able then your blood pressure may go up due to steroids.
If asthma is mild to moderate than inhalation corticosteroids may be given with minimal side effects .
Thyroid medicines and metformin do not raise blood pressure but if hypothyroid condition is untreated may increase blood pressure by increasing peripheral resistance.
Once your flares up of asthma subsides steroids can be tapered off .
In asthma taking care by inhalation route is best please discuss with your treating
doctor.
Please Take Care
Good Luck.
