High Positive Anti CCP, Stiffness, Joint Pain In Hands,, Wrists, Knees, Ankles, Hips, Neck, Shoulders And Feet, Extreme Tiredness.

High positive anti CCP, morning stiffness 1 hour, joint pain in both hands (all fingers), wrists, knees, ankles, hips, neck, shoulders and feet, and extreme tiredness, and one nodule on my foot. Xrays are normal and minimal or no swelling. Symptoms have been going on for 6 months, and the anti CCP has been repeated and has not changed. All other labs are negative. Two rheumatologists have said I do not have RA yet but may get it eventually, and I should just take NSAIDS. Does that sound right??

Hi!
welcome to HCM!
Anti CCP antibody stands for anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody. It is a protein produced as part of the process that leads to joint inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis. It is a test used to confirm the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. At present, anti- CCP antibody is the most specific marker(98 per cent specificity) for Rheumatoid arthritis. .It scores over the routine rheumatoid factor test for early & spcific diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis
Anti CCP antibody is also of prognostic significance in Rheumatoid arthritis. High levels of the antibody indicate a more aggressive RA & higher risk of joint damage as compared to a patient with low levels.
you have high CCP and symptoms also I think treatment for Rheumatod Arthritis must be started.
hope this helps!
take care!
