High Protein In Kidneys, Weak, Losing His Muscles, Strength, Almost Quadrupligic. What Is The Nest Step ?

I am an OTA who met a client working as a traveler for a company doing Home therapy. The client at that time was very weak and almost became a quadrupligic.after 3 yrs of being on a limbo with test after test, recently the coupel went to Baltimore to have other test performed. In one of those test, he had high protein in kidneys, The specialist they saw is a Guillian Barre Sydrom expert, because they also said he might have "that" but they are not sure. After 2 years of therapy (OT, PT and a sports trainer) he almost regaing UB and LB strenght, muscle and was abel to do his ADL'S and walk with a walker. About 5 moths ago he started to dicline to the point that he is lossing his muscles, strenght and can barely do his ADL'S. Also this family is lossing faith with all DR's because there is "no answer to his dead end street." I am concerned and not sure what to do next to help this family which by the way they money is not an issue.
Sincerely a concerned therapist

Hello,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic. From your Query i understood that your friend had Guillain-Barre Syndrome in past. Guillain Barre syndrome is Flaccid paralytic disease. Continuous Physiotherapy is necessary for GBS affected patients.More than that Psychosocial support is very much needed for such patients. Anyway some kind of persistent fatigue is common in GBS patients. So physiotherapy and social support is vital for your friend.
Hope it helps.
Take care
