Hip Went Numb During Run. Pain In Knee While Getting Up. Advice?
I am a regular runner. last week during one of my runs, my hip went numb and I couldn't feel my foot. once i got home i was fine. on friday, i was sitting outside with a friend for lunch. after an hour, i stood up, and couldnt straighten my leg without causing severe pain behind my right knee. sometimes when i stand up, it's fine, but other times when i try and stand, i cant straighten my knee and i get shooting pains behind my knee.
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. The MENISCI ( the cartilage) are commonly torn in sports or when rising from a kneeling position. As this knee joint is a weight bearing joint ,so rotation of tibia (lower bone of leg)on the femur in the flexed position is very common. Same thing happened with you. You have not mentioned any swelling over knee joint so this good. Take a rest of 6 week and in my opinion you will be alright. Ice pack and rest are important. Hope I have answered your question. I further any question I will help. Good luck. Dr. HET
