History Of Gall Bladder Removal. Have Pain Under Rib Cage. Reason?

I had my gall bladder removed 37 years ago I have been having this cramp spasm pain on my high right side under my rib cage that goes through to my back .When this pain is happening I cannot operate and need pain killers to rid it . I cannot go on like this for the rest of my life . Do you think it could be the tube left that was attached to my gall bladder

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

It is practically impossible to point out a cause for your pain without proper physical examination and a detailed case study.

Propably, the pain could be originating due to a Hepatic (liver) pathology which is anatomically located in that area.

An ultrasound scan of abdomen will generally detect simple lesions, if not an MRI scan is needed.

I suggest you to consult a general surgeon for further workup and management.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
