History Of Wound During Soccer Game. Gashes On Leg, Swollen Ankle And Shin, Scabs And Redness Around The Area Of Cut. No Visible Bruises. Advice
Hi, two weeks ago during a soccer game, I was "cleated" on the inside of my leg/shin. The injury left two gashes on my leg and a swollen ankle/shin. The area around the cuts is still red although scabs have formed and it swells during the day, tonight, it felt like there were areas of "hard" swelling that seemed almost malleable under the area of my leg that was struck. There is no visible bruising but I'm worried about the tenderness/redness/swelling.
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The presence of swelling in the area of cut is suggestive of an inflammation in the area. You need to get the wound examined and get some systemic antibiotics prescribed to take care of any infection in the area.
