Hit The Head On A Brick Wall After Falling. Feels Like Having A Stiff Neck. Go To The Emergency?
Hi...I am a sixty year old male living in Istanbul..I fell and slid hitting the top front of my head on a brick wall, jarring my neck. There is an abrasion type wound under my hair...I did not lose consciousness, have no double vision, etc. -my neck is not stiff now, but feels like it will be. Wondering whether it's worth going to the Turkish emergency room and trying to explain all of this, or wait and see...thanks.
The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to injury/ pathology of soft tissues in the neck. Symptomatic relief can be obtained with ice application, intake of anti inflammatory preparations like Ibuprofen, & application of analgesic+muscle relaxant gel. Multivitamins & multimineral preparations also need to be added in your diet.
However, if the symptoms persist or associated with other complaints like fever, dizziness, vomiting, convulsions, etc. then you need to consult a Physician to rule out any intra-cranial injury. Investigation like X ray of head & neck region and CT scan of brain will be helpful.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. Take care.
