Hoarse Voice After Removal Of Carotid Body Tumor By Vascular Surgeon. Will Voice Return?
3 months ago i had a surgical procedure ,remove the carotid body tumor by Vascular surgeon, but after surgery my voice changed and became a hoarseness and I can not scream or raise my voice or call any one in another room and my voice very Low and unclear, the doctor tells me it s just a matter of time and will return as it was , Is this true or should I review another doctor can you plz tell me ..

The most commonly injured nerve in carotid tumor surgery is the superior laryngeal nerve. The patient postoperatively might suffer from some degree of aspiration and voice changes (inability to create high-pitched sounds) as you are suffering from.
The recovery depends upon the type of injury whether it is temporary or permanent. Usually the injury recovers in nine months of the procedure or you can say we wait for nine months before going for any other options. If it does't recover than we go for alternate treatment like laryngeal electromyography (LEMG).
So don't worry and hope for the best.
