Horrible Pain In Hands, Stiff And Numb. Given Steroids, No Improvement. Medication To Reduce Pain?
I am a 59 yr old female. I woke up one morning to horrible pain in my hands, they were stiff and numb, I couldn't make a fist. Couldn't move my right arm because of pain and stiffness, and pain in my right ankle. Went to emergency room and was given steroids, they are no longer working. Don't know what to do now, I'm in a lot of pain.

Hi,
You seem to be effected with different joints in your body. Also the presentation is suggestive of Arthritis. Steroids will only be helpful to some extent. You need to see a rheumatologist who will put you on treatment regimen which will work to a greater extent over time in healing and maintaining stability of this condition.
