Hot And Redness In Ear Lobe Pinnea Followed By Itching And Pain. No History Of Ear Piercing, Earrings Or Change In Diet. Any OTC Medication?

Mt ear lobe pinnea became really hot and red the other day. Since then, it has started itching, and is still hot and red at times. It woke my up in my sleep. I have not gotten my ears pierced, worn earrings, changed my diet, or any beauty products, and this is getting worse and is pretty painful. Any thoughts on what this could be any any OTC remedies?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello from HCM,

I understand your concern regarding your ear. Going by your symptoms, you have developed a perichondritis, which is an infection of the cartilage of the ear. Perichondritis commonly occurs flowing injury to the ear, surgery or following ear piercing. But there is a possibility that it resulted from extension of infection from the ear canal. It could have started of with a small boil and now the whole pinna is inflamed.
I would recommend you to see your ENT Specialist asap, because treatment in the form of appropriate antibiotics needs to be started to prevent it from further worsening. You could start a painkiller like ibuprofen in the transit.
Hope you have a speedy recovery,

Best Regards,

Hi,
It seems that there might be having something bite causing allergic swelling with super added bacterial infection.
Take antihistamine, anti-inflammatory and antibiotic medicine after consulting your doctor.
Ok and take care.

Hi,
I had gone through your query, it most probably suggests that you are suffering from perichondritis of the pinna. For exclusion of the other disease either provide me the picture of your pinna or consult the ENT specialist .

Wish you good health
