How Along Can Be A Large Bowel Removal Surgery And What Can Be The Expected Recovery Time?
l am having the large bowel removed and the ascending part taken out and resawn to the small bowel that is on my right, how long is the operation and how long will l expect to be in hospital and how long is the recovery when l leave the hospital,
Your surgery can last from 2-4 hours, depending whether they are using staplers or hand sewing your intestine to maintain continuity....staplers make things faster...
Post-op stay will be about 5-8 days depending on intra-op events and speed of your recovery...can be longer if any complications like infection or leak occurs...
Total recovery will take about 3-5 weeks to return to your normal activities...
Talk to your surgeon...he is the better person to answer these as he knows everything about your present condition...
