How Can lower Back Pain And Leg Pain Be Treated?

What could be causing my lower back & leg pain? Yesterday morning, without warning, I was stepping up onto my porch when I suddenly felt excruciating pain in my lower back that went down my leg to the knee. I could hardly move at first, then finally got in the house & took 200 mg of ibuprofen. Didn t help much, took another dose later, put on a heat patch & sat down for a long time because it hurt all day to move much. Can t get into doctor till later this week. I was better this morning, but every so often have a twinge in my lower back. I am wondering if it is something like sciatica? or something else?

Hello,

As this pain indicates to me as a lumbar Radiculopathy and that's the reason the symptoms are like sciatica. There might be a nerve root entrapment. Since you cannot go to a doctor I will advise you to continue the medication which you are taking and take complete bed rest. Also, take hot water fermentation. If you can arrange for a Lumbar brace it will be really helpful.

Maybe an MRI is needed to see the disc pathology. Once the pain will come down then the exercise can be initiated like- core stability, lumbar spinal muscle strengthening, lower limbs and hip strengthening to get good results.

In my clinical practice of over 12 years, most cases with lumbar Radiculopathy recovers well with the above-mentioned program. We do add McKenzie maneuver based on the requirements. You can check the McKenzie maneuver online.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
