Hello,
Never leave your baby alone. Always keep him under your observation. PVL (
periventricular leukomalacia) increases the risk of seizures in preterm infants. Tonic–clonic–like events in newborns may or may not be true seizures. First you should get your baby clinically examined by a
pediatrician. Document what you see, take clear video recordings of the episodes on your phone when your baby is having seizures. This is very helpful for the doctors to understand the symptoms and reach diagnosis.
Note the duration of the episode, triggers, whether the baby is alert afterward, note any color change (blue, pale), or any abnormal breathing. If you think your baby is having problems, do not wait for the next routine appointment. Do not delay. Go to the emergency room or call your pediatrician right away.
Infants can deteriorate quickly if these are true seizures. Your baby may be referred to a pediatric
neurologist. Get him treated.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
