How Can I Safely Remove A Tampon Stuck In My Rectum Without Going To The ER, And Would A Fleet Enema Help?

Have a tampon stuck up in my rectum because I have a colostomy and lots of mucus was coming out so I put a tampon up inside my tight rectum and it sucked up the tampon where even the string is gone up inside. What's the best way of removing it without going to the ER or a doctor. Will Fleet enemy's work?

Hello,

Since the string has also gone up, you are advised to stop fiddling with it. Just relax, do not panic and this is not the time to use fleet enema. Do not use fleet enema as it may cause the tampon to swell, making removal harder. No, do not try to pull it out at home. It will injure the rectal lining, cause a tear, bleeding and infection.

You are advised to go to ER or urgent care, do not hesitate. The health care professional there will not judge you. It can happen with anyone. It needs to be removed by a professional so that you don't hurt much. Do not stay at home as symptoms will worsen. Delaying getting it taken out will cause infection, pressure injury, or blockage. Go to ER, you need urgent medical attention.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
