How Can I Treat Dry Nagging Cough?

I am 30 years old. and a smoker. I have had a cough for over a month. it is a dry nagging cough. went to er and they took xray and said it probably was bronchitus. i am so short of breath i cant stand it. I just feel tight in the chest but yet have had no signs of any mucos.it feels like when i breath in sometimes that i feel a little rattle in the center of my chest. I am scared that it something else and they are over looking it.

Smoking itself causes bronchitis. First it present as acute conditions if you won't quit again it became chronic one leads to copd.

Other possibilities bronchial astma feel tight Ness (allergic variant) breathing difficulty.

Rattle in the chest may be due to secretions or wheezing due to broncho spasm.

Consult your doctor he will advice xray and investigations and treat you accordingly.

Just check for postnatal drip, chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps or Gerd which cause cough.
