How Can A Burn Wound On The Hand Be Treated?

I have a severe skin burn on my hand. It s been 5 days, I was using tooth-paste to keep it dry. Today I bought Alocane(Lidocaine), but I am not sure if it going to work. However, the pain has decreased after I applied it. Should I take any tablets to heal the wound?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The burn in your hand needs dressing with sterile bandage. Application of Lignocaine relieves pain. Once it heals, the scar contracts resulting in post burns contracture.
So, to facilitate a healthy wound healing with minimal contracture we should get the wound dressed in the regular intervals and take appropriate antibiotics.
I will advice you to consult a plastic surgeon who will help you in the proper management of the wound and reduce the scar.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Meera Rajeev
