How Can A Painful Lump At The Injury Site Be Treated?
I hit my head several years ago as a kid, playing in the barn.. my parents didn t believe me when I told them it caused me to black out.. I had bleeding at the site of impact .. ever since I have had an dent in my head where I hit it, and it s always stayed sore, but just in the past year I have noticed a small knot at the back of the indentation and this knot is super painful.. like my children just lay their chin on it and I m almost in tears.. the knot is not very large .. but I have always wondered, even more so now, do I need to get it checked out or after all these years is it just in different healing stage/process???
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms do not seem to be related to the past trauma. For this reason, I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and some tests:
- Complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation
- Vitamin D levels for possible deficiency
- A brain CT scan or MRI .
Hope to have been helpful!
Wishing all the best,
Dr. Iliri
