How Can A Stroke Be Ruled Out?

my father is 72, type 2 dm, has had a bad untreated cold, other than otc stuff. he has recently became confused, disorinated, irritable, d ou disconnected. he is still congested and coughing. he us starting to have incontence. he is stubborn and will not go to er, is there anyway I can rule out stroke? please see above

I have noted your father's symptoms.

Based on the symptoms, stroke is definitely one of the possibilities to be excluded. Other possibilities would include electrolyte imbalance, infections, etc.

You can look for more specific signs that could suggest stroke- facial asymmetry, inability to comprehend or speak, arm weakness or imbalance while walking.

Doing a CT scan would be best if there are symptoms suggestive of stroke.
