How Can A Tender Ear Lump With No Pain Be Treated?
Hello, my daughter is 13 and she just showed me, tonight, a small, pea sized lump in front of her ear towards the top of where the ear meets the jaw/skull. She said it appeared a few days ago and is somewhat tender to touch. It is only on the one side. She has no toher symptoms right now but has a history of repeated ear infections, tubes in ears, etc. She also, just about the time this showed up, started her second menstrual cycle since going through puberty. Any thoughts on the lump? Thanks....Rick

How Can A Tender Ear Lump With No Pain Be Treated?
Hello, By what you say I feel that this might be postauricular lymphadenopathy. The most common cause is reactive lymphadenopathy other due to upper respiratory illness or middle ear infection. This condition is usually self-limiting unless there is suppuration due to secondary bacterial infection. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Sumanth Amperayani, Pediatrician, Pulmonology
