How Can A Tumor In The Small Intestine Be Removed?

My 90 yr. old mother in good health except she has a tumor in her small colon/small intestine. The doctor said he would make a small incision, would take 30-45 min. to do the surgery 7-10 days in the hospital and 4-6 weeks recuperation and no chemotherapy and should be healthy after that. She has 80% blockage. What do you think, is there another option?

Hi There

I understand your concern for your mother.

I would like to tell you that small bowel obstruction can be managed operatively and non operatively both ways. But in your case she has a tumor that should be removed for sure.

Tumor has to be removed either way electively or emergency. So it's advisable to go for surgery before any complications.

Hope this will help

Kind Regards
Dr Navneet Mahajan
