How Can Abdominal Bloating And Gas After Recovery From Food Poisoning Be Treated?
I HAD A NASTY BOUT OF FOOD POISONING IN APRIL. IT STARTED WITH SEVERE CRAMPING FOR ABOUT 4 HRS AND THEN VOMITING. IT TOOK ME ABOUT A WEEK TO FULLY RECOVER. AND JUST WHEN I THOUGHT I WAS FINE (ABOUT 6 DAYS)THE WHOLE THING STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN. I WENT TO THE DOCTOR AND GAVE BLOOD AND STOOL SAMPLES BUT THE TESTS DIDNT REVEAL ANYTHING. I AM FULLY RECOVERED NOW BUT I NOW HAVE GAS ALL THE TIME. THIS IS NEW FOR ME BECAUSE I DIDNT HAVE GAS MUCH BEFOREHAND. WILL THE GAS EVENTUALLY GO AWAY? SHOULD I HAVE THIS CHECKED OUT? PLEASE HELP
It is possible that the repeated episodes of food poisoning disturbed the normal bacteria in the colon.
This would contribute to the bloating that you are experiencing.
The use of probiotics , either on their own or in certain yogurts, may be helpful to decrease your symptoms. Medications such as pepcid, zantac, nexium, prilosec, prevacid etc, may also be helpful as well
I hope this helps
