How Can Abdominal Distention And Frequent Bowel Movements Be Treated?

Good evening. I’m 65 years old. I have a UTI due to enterococcus ps. I’ve been put on Ciprofloxacine and this is my 5th dose and a don’t feel any relief. About 6 weeks ago I had another UTI due to E COLI but that one cleared. A week ago, I took Secnidazole for Entamoeba Coli cost, blastocysts hominis. Still my stomach feels distended and bowel movements 2 or 3 times a day. And just coming out of a bout of cold. Don’t know what to do to feel better?. Are all the symptoms related? Thank you for your answer.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You may be suffering from chronic diarrhea. It may be due to food intolerance or inflammatory bowel problems or irritable bowel problems or malabsorption syndromes or infections.

Avoid spicy food and alcohol, avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.

Use probiotic medication.

Avoid dairy products and gluten containing food.

Use tablet Normaxin.

Get the stool examined for microscopy and culture sensitivity.

If symptoms not improved, please consult your doctor. He will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
