How Can Acid Reflux With Throat Burning Be Treated?

Sir, for 2 months I've been suffereing a problem which now persists. Aftereating my meal, I feel that the meal is coming back to my throat and suddenly starts burning. My heart does not burn but my throat only. When I bend my bodu for intercourse with my wife, I feel the same. I'm 46 years old having 130 pounds. Someone told me that I've GERD and this disease has no cure till death, since I am too much frustrated. !st I thought it is my tonsil problem but my doctor says I have no tonsil problem, even he did not tell me what disease I've. He gave me these medicines: Capsule Selanz, Tablet Domel, Capsule Axcin. I request you sir, help me please. Zahid

Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post is attributed to Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
The acid reflux is caused due to relaxation of the sphincter at the lower part of esophagus.

Medical management consists of intake of Proton pump inhibitors like Pantoprazole (which prevent acid formation in stomach)+ Domperidone preparations (strengthens the sphincter & prevents reflux)

In addition you need to follow certain diet & lifestyle measures, such as:
1. Dietary modification- avoid consuming irritating substances such as acidic & rich foods, caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol.
2. Lifestyle modification- like weight reduction, sleeping on the left side, or with upper body raised. Avoid stress.

If symptoms still persist, it will be better to consult your treating Doctor/ Gastroenterologist.
