How Can An Allergic Reaction To Augmentin Be Treated?
I had a sinus infection and adverse reaction to augmentin, then my right side of my face swelled up; now my nose, right cheek and lip is numb. I have been to an endodonist and dentist and they say nothing is wrong with my teeth. I have had surgery on my right eye in the past, 20+ years ago. I am baffled, but I am taking an antibiotic for bacteria infection, since my ear was also hurting.
Hello! If I were your treating Doctor I would immediately stop your antibiotic Infection in case of an Allergy. An allergic reaction to any medication should always be stopped. Its very important to know that an allergic reaction can also occur to your respiratory system (Larynx) and hinder the breathing. Of course you should go to a hospital and get the right medication i.v. in this case and take some Adrenaline, Cortisone Antihistamine. A swelling of your nose and cheek can also be a complication of your sinus infection. In this case you also should go to the Hospital and get Antibiotics at least for 3 days i.v., In this case it can be clindamycin. After that it can be orally. I advise you not to lose time and wish you good health.
