Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Ankle Injury Causing Moderate Swelling And Pain Be Treated?
I have injured my ankle in some way... There is some (not significant) swelling on the outside, just below the ankle bone, but no bruising. The pain seems to fluctuate from barely noticeable to moderately painful, mostly depending on how much I am on my feet in a given day. Is this just a mild sprain? I work on my feet daily, sometimes lifting heavy boxes throughout the day... This has been ongoing for 2-3 weeks now.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. From description , it seems you might developed muscular or ligamentous strain over ankle . Now after 3 weeks if pain is severe ,I would suggest getting this evaluated by an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. You may get the MRI of the area affected under his/her guidance. Meanwhile following measures will help with the pain • Anti -inflammatory drugs like Tablet Motrin 1 tablet as and when required • Avoid strenuous activity. • Apply diclofenac gel on the affected area. Warm compresses will also help.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
