Drank a can of Pepsi brought it up to 88, 157, 212 at noon, 167 at 2 pm. Had 2 pieces of broiled fish and broccoli for dinner. At 8 PM, reading is 59 tested again its 61. Hello,

In a type 2 diabetes patient monitoring sugar levels is a very important thing and you are doing it, that's a great thing. As you mentioned you had a surgery recently and you are on a low-fat diet.

I would suggest you continue with your medicines for diabetes and follow the diet plan given by your dietician to you. The blood sugar levels in the morning empty stomach you mentioned are normal. Follow the diet plan as per dieticians advice. In case you feel doubtful then contact your doctor and talk about it.

Fluctuation in blood sugar levels throughout the day is normal, you can keep a record of it whenever you check and show it to your doctor when you visit him. I would suggest you not to consume Pepsi can or things like that to increase your sugar levels without your doctor’s or dietician’s advice. If you feel any signs and symptoms of uneasiness or you feel unwell and you feel its due to drop in your sugar levels then it's better to visit ER or see your doctor rather than trying to influence it on your own.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar,
