Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a very healthy 67 yrs. old woman. I did however recently get the flu and now have bronchitis. My check XRay read "There is hyperaeration suggesting COPD (though have absolutely no risk factors for COPD; never smoked, normal weight and no history in the family).
The XRay did not state yes or no for pneumonia and yet the Dr. stated in her report yes. This may have been her impression before receiving the XRay report however called me back that the XR was negative.
So you can imagine my concern that now I have a report that states COPD. I am a registered nurse as well and understand the importance of accurate documentation.
Guess my question to you is could this film which should show I have bronchial irritation, also look like someone with COPD and why would a radiologist state in their IMPRESSION, that I do?
These things are so important if I were ever to be underwritten insurance. It could deny me coverage though I plan to stay with what I have and make no changes. But accuracy is my concern and should I ask that someone else read this film?
