How Can Chills, Headaches, Sore Throat And High Fever Be Treated?
Hi, I started experiencing body chills, headaches, sore throat and high fever (105) since Sunday Morning. My doctor did a swab test and test came back negative for Strep (which I thought I had). Now, exactly 24 hours, my ears are plugged, and throbbing, painful. Could this be a case of a very bad flu? And what can I take to resolve the pain? I am currently taking Advil Cold and Sinus 200mg, but this has stopped working and symptoms are getting worse.
You are having acute pharyngitis infective condition. You are having streptococcus negative pharyngitis, hence, you can have influenza pharyngitis. If needed, swab can be sent for PCR test for influenza.
If influenza positive and no improvement, then oseltamivir antiviral drug can be prescribed. Continue decongestant drug intake for five days.
Diluted betadine gargle can be done three times a day and salt water gargle done with warm water three times a day and drink more water. Consult otorhinolaryngologist for examination and discuss your case.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
