How Can Chronic Constipation Be Treated?

I am very concerned about my 79 year old mother. She is extremely constipated....up to 5 days without any sign of a bowel movement. Taking different over the counter meds even old home remedies. Nothing is successful. BEFORE I take her to the ER should I be trying something else for her? No pain....no blood....no abdominal noises. Very concerned for my mama . Thanks for your advise.

Hello
Constipation in elderly people should be assessed. If OTC and diet didn't work you should take her to a doctor.
