How Can Constipation Be Treated?

I had aA resection 6 months ago I got staff infection was in hospital 1month.I do okay but every few days i seem to get constipated alot of pain right side gurgling loudly vomiting Ihave to stay in bed chills then hot once I am able to empty bowels I am okay for A few days until next time Im also tird alot.Is this normal?

•     Exercise more.
•     Take Senna, an herbal laxative.
