How Can Cough,cold And Fever Be Treated In Infants?

HI, I have a 1.4mnth old child. He is having cough and cold and fever. We took him to the doc and were prescribed MOX ready syrup, crocin syrup and codistar syrup. This was last week. However, till now his cough has not receded. There is no fever but he has stopped eating food. Has become very cranky and sleeps a lot. Pls help.

Hi,

This indicates a respiratory infection. As the fever has gone, probably he is recovering. Cough usually takes few more days to disappear. Giving a bronchodilator like salbutamol suspension might offer some help. Appetite also may take 7-10 days to be normal. Till then, offer frequent breast feeds, snacks and plenty of fluids. If he is otherwise active and playful, and there is no fast breathing/breathing difficulty or wheezing, we need not worry. Otherwise take him back to his pediatrician.
