Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. My father is 100 years old . Alert ,oriented in many ways , but does definitely suffer from dementia. He has always been very demanding ,but has now become quite belligerent and combative at times, following becoming permanently bed ridden from latest fall . The hospice staff wants to try seroquil. I have a lot of concerns ,the lit says it should not be used for dementia. Also there seem to be a lot of law suits with this drug.Would like your opinion. Do you have alternate suggestions ?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Senile dementia does not have any specific treatment. All you need to give is moral support and nutritive food. Supplementation of antioxidant medication may be helpful. Kindly consult Neurologist for clinical evaluation and appropriate advice. Hope the information provided helps. Best wishes.
