Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM
I have read and understood your concern.Sorry to hear you baby is suffering from diarrhea.I am happy the exact cause of the problem has been identified.
Recommended daily dose for nalidix acid is 55 mg/kg/day. A dose of 250mg daily will be ok for your baby in 4 divided doses. However, for prolonged use, 25mg/kg may be given.
You may also add the following:
-Oral rehydration salt to replenish ions and fluid losses
-Zinc tablets to help in intestinal repair
I will advise you see a Pediatrician for further evaluation before initiating the treatment as the treatment of diarrhea does not only limit to treating the cause but also identifying and treating effects/complications of diarrhea.
Hope this will help. You may write back if more concerns.
Wish your baby a speedy recovery
