How Can Diverticulitis Be Treated?

last sunday I had popcorn and on mon I had some pistachios. I was ok. I have had trouble with diverticulitis in the past. anyway on tues. I had French fries from b-bops and they tasted like the oil had not been changed for a long time. an hour later I had severe diaherra since tues. and today is fri. I have a sensitive stomach. when it gets irritated I just eat soft foods and it gets better. so I have been eating oatmeal. canned peaches. soft foods.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The symptoms may be due to minor gastroenteritis. Most often it will subside on its own, no definite management is required. You can take ORS and anti secretive like Racecadotril may be tried. If symptoms persist. then antibiotics may be required.
