How Can Drowsiness Caused By Sleeping Pills Be Treated?

Hello doctor, my sister s baby 13 months old accidentally ate sleeping pill of 0.5 mg. We consulted local local doctor who kept her on observation and found that her BP was high and she was very drowsy and also told she will be fine in next 5 hours but now it s been 24hours but still she is drowsy and unable to crowl and walk., kindly help

Hi,

As per your history, the danger period has passed and now there is no need to worry much. Because the medication taken by your child as per her body mass index is high.

But the first one to two half-lives of the drug is crucial, which I think has passed. Now the drug remains functional at least till 4th half-life. So it may take 24 to 48 hours as per the drug is taken which you have not specifically mentioned.

Therefore, the drowsiness may continue but there is not any danger ahead to be concerned.
