How Can Dysphagia Caused By A Head Injury Be Treated?
My husband was hit with a stick across his head, he did have a helmet on with a cage, he was knocked down to the ground. This was a week ago, and still today he has problems swallowing. Could this have been from the impact hit? Should he see a doctor?
He should clearly see a doctor because it is not clear from your description whether or not the problem is due to a concussion or whether there may be a fracture of the cervical spine or even some other part of the jaw making it difficult to swallow. I would get an imaging study of the head and neck (MRI and plain films of the cervical spine). Please rate this a 5 STAR encounter and write me at: www.bit.ly/drdariushsaghafi with more questions.
