How Can Elevated BNP Levels Be Reduced?

Hi there, I m just being told my step dad had a silent heart attack last week which he didn t know he had, due to his type 2 diabetes he just thought he was really sick so , He went to see his doctor and she sent him to emerg, he has now been in the hospital for 3 days with 2000 bnb levels im wondering how these levels go down to a safe zone and how long that takes

Hi, I really appreciate your concern for your Dad's health. B-type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP) blood test is a useful tool to determine the worsening or stabilization of a heart condition, in your dad's case the Heart Attack.
You don't have to worry about his health as he is admitted now and as the treatment will progress the Blood levels of BNP will go down towards normal which depends on how much time is taken to stabilize the heart condition your dad has.
I am giving normal and other values for your further information. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope best for his health.
BNP levels below 100 pg/mL indicate no heart failure.
BNP levels of 100-300 pg/mL suggest heart failure is present.
BNP levels above 300 pg/mL indicate mild heart failure.
BNP levels above 600 pg/mL indicate moderate heart failure.
BNP levels above 900 pg/mL indicate severe heart failure.
