How Can Excessive Sweating Be Treated?

I am a woman, age 66. For several years now, my hair is thinning and it is very thin on top. I have seen doctors and talked with people. I have tried Nioxin-type shampoos. I took Progesterin (sp.?) for 6 months, but continued to lose more hair. I know that Estrogen might help, but one of my sisters has had breast cancer and they don t recommend that for me. I also have profuse sweating. I have read on this and I have not noticed that is any specific time, although, when I get the least bit active it comes on. I am sweating most of the day and night. It is usually upper boy - not lower. Any advice for me will be appreciated

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms seem to be related to hyperhydrosis.
-Make sure you are using an antiperspirant rather than a deodorant.
-You can take prescribed medications such as anticholinergics
-If these methods does not work I suggest you to consider Botulinum toxin

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
