How Can Fever Along With Diarrhea And Vomiting Be Treated?
Hi my 5 year old has been sick now for over 10 days .it started out with a fever of over 40 . He was prescibed amoxiciline . During his intake of amoxiciline he begin to have diarhea and was throwing up the fever keps returning . We ended up in the hospital they just let us know that he has morganella morganii in his urin. He hasnt been eating the past 5 days i am getting very worried . My doctor prescribed him cefproliz which i am hesitant about giving him this antibiotic since i read that the only cyre for morganella is levofloxacin and trimethoprim sulphamethoxazole. What do i do ? I dont want to yet again give him an antibiotic on his weak tummy that wont work?
When urine is sent to the lab to identify a bacteria, the lab would normally check to see which antibiotics work and which would not be effective.
It is possible this was done in your son's case and this was the reason for the use of this particular antibiotic It would be best, since he still is not doing well, for you to speak to his doctor as soon as possible
I hope this helps
