How Can Finger Discomfort Due To An Injury Be Treated?

My husband is a mechanic. He said today that when he was working on a car, he felt a pop in his hand and something coil up in his hand. I asked if it hurts, he said Well it doesn t feel good. Apparently, it is along the left ring finger and he can t use that finger to pull up the little buttons that roll car windows up these days. It doesn t look swollen or discolored. What could that have been? What is the best course of action?

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem is most likely due to ligament injury or tendinitis. For such condition I advice icing and splinting of finger with frog splint or just elastic bandage. If more discomfort or pain is there then X ray should be taken to rule out any fracture. NSAIDs can be taken if pain is more also. Hope this may help you.
Let me know if you have any further queries.
