How Can Food Poisoning Be Prevented?

my husband thought he was very smart - found bacon wrapped shrimp left in the oven since Sunday - 3+days. Reheated it and did not tell me. We have very different views on old food. I ate 3 - thinking they had been refrigerated. Is there anything I can do to avoid the upcoming food poisoning?? Drink something? Make myself throw up?? Help??

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Food poisoning prevented by avoiding stored and reheated food. use tablet freshly prepared food with ready to eat. Carefully wash your hands often, and always before cooking or cleaning. Clean dishes and utensils that have had any contact with raw meat, poultry, fish, or eggs. Cook frozen foods for the full time recommended on the package. Refrigerate any perishable food or leftovers within 2 hours. Keep the refrigerator set to around 40°F (4.4°C) and your freezer at or below 0°F (-18°C). DO NOT eat meat, poultry, or fish that has been refrigerated uncooked for longer than 1 to 2 days. Do not use foods that have an unusual odor or a spoiled taste. Do not use outdated foods, packaged food with a broken seal, or cans that are bulging or have a dent.

Hope I have answered your query.
