How Can High Fever, Stomach Ache And Sore Throat In A Child Be Treated?
Hello. My 6 year old daughter has been fighting a fever. We can get it down with medicine but it ends up climbing a few hours later. She started complaining of a sore throat and a stomach ache once and a while. Her appetite does not seem normal either. Her tonsils look like they might be swollen a bit(little hard to tell)Could it be tonsillitis ?Even when her temperature goes down her body is still warmer than normal. Thanks for your time.
As she has been complaining of sore throat, it might be due to tonsillitis, which in majority of cases is viral. Wait for a couple of days for fever to get down. If not, should consult with ENT pediatrician and check her throat and ears to rule out bacterial infection.
Keep giving fever medication. Keep good oral hygiene. Advice to gargle with warm water and salt. Use oral antiseptics containing propolis. Keeping ice cubes in the mouth can ease tonsil inflammation and reduce them.
Give her plenty of fluids, especially plain water with oral re-hydration salts to replace the lost electrolytes through fever; tea, juice.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini
