Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Hypothyroidism Along With Body Ache Be Treated?
Hello, I am 44 YO BF. I have been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. I have achy pain all over my body almost all the time. The main issue is a severe pain in my lower left side. First, it begins radiating and then it begins to burn and stingI ve been told I need to lose weight. While it is true that I need to lose some pounds, I have been having these issues for a long time (even when I was smaller). I have been to several doctors and they say that they can find nothing. It has been suggested to me to get checked for Lupus. Do you have any advice for me?
Thyroid problems are sometimes related to immune diseases and it might be a good idea to have a check to rule out common immune diseases, lupus being one of them so I would recommend to have these tests and have peace of mind.
On the other hand, you will need to have the treatment for the low thyroid function as this may help you lose weight and might help with the pains as well so please take the treatment as instructed by your doctor.
Another condition to consider in women with generalized pain but normal tests are fibromyalgia so you might need to talk with your doctor on the possibility of you having fibromyalgia and proper treatment if this is the case.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
