How Can I Avoid The Medication?

My 13 year old son used Alka Seltzer plus for a cold and now he wants to use it every night to help him sleep. My husband and I are concerned that this may be the first sign of addictive personality and could lead to drug use later. He has never been a good sleeper. What should we do?

Hello. I just read through your question.
Alka seltzer is generally not considered a gateway drug so I wouldn't be worried about that. However, it is not good to have alka seltzer integrated into his sleep routine. It will make it too difficult for him top fall asleep when there is no alka seltzer there. Similar to a baby falling alseep with a bottle.
