How Can I Get Rid Of The Red Lines On Thighs And Stomach After Using Heating Pad?

I used a heating pad on my abdomen to help reduce period cramps, and after I finished using it, there are red lines resembling stretch marks on my upper thighs and stomach. They don't hurt or anything, but are no good looking. I was wondering if these would go away, and how to get rid of them?

Hi. Hello and wecome to healthcaremagic.

Seems to me a case of Erythema ab igne which is reticular/net like pattern that develops in a particular area after using a heating pad/exposing to dry heat. It is due hemosiderin deposition (pigment derived from blood cells) that occurs in a reticular distribution.

Discontinuing contact with the heat source is the initial treatment of erythema ab igne. If the area is only mildly affected with slight redness, the condition may resolve itself in a few months.

regards
