Im a 24 year old female, i have been getting a lot of ingrown hairs while shaving my pubic region. I have what i thought was an ingrown hair on more of my bikini line, it hurt and was enlarged (i think because my underwear rubs up against it. So a white head came on it and i popped it good a good bit came out. Put some antibiotic cream on it and it started to heal, now its still there, and still hurts and has a welted red circle around it. What should I do, and is it an ingrown hair??
The redness indicates that there is still pus inside that needs to be removed. The best remedy for this is to remove the ingrown hair if possible. You may use antiseptic lotion on that area and try teasing it with a sterile needle. If the hair is visible just pluck it out. Also squeeze out any associated pus and then it will heal. If you are not able to do it, seek the help of a doctor.
Use of scrub on the affected area once it heals helps to control this issue in the long term.
