How Can Internal Knee Injury Be Diagnosed?

My 13 year old son injured his knee in baseball yesterday. He tripped over the base and went to catch his step and heard a pop in his knee with instant pain and swelling within 10 minutes. The swelling and pain is down. When or how do I determine if it is just a sprain or need to see his doctor for ACL or meniscus tear,

Hi,

As of now we can take it as sprain and manage with “RICE” protocol! Rest, Icepacks, compression and elevation. You can also give him analgesics like Ibuprofen or diclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, you have to take him to an orthopaedician and get an MRI scan done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
