How Can Lethargy And Excessive Sleepiness Due To Diabetes Be Managed?

Mother-in-law. 94 yrs old, diabetic. Lethargic, blood sugar a little high when she woke up. After breakfast it's up to 382. She wants to sleep. I am giving her lots of water and trying to get her to move, ie legs and arms...wheelchair bound. What more can I do. Controlled with medication NOT insulin.

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Moral support is the best in this age and it gives very good result.
You cannot just move the limbs else it may cause the injury.
So try to avoid the passive movement of arms.
vitamin supplement is best, but even more better is nursing care.
Balance diet is good for her health,
Blood sugar need to be controlled on tight rule basis, else it is nothing to worry, take good care of her.

Hope I have answered your query,
Let me know for further assistance.
